This was the bar the Four Corners (Australian Current Affairs program) reporter Peter Couchman used for his sensationalist program about the bar raids in Ermita. I remember the footage of the girls being dragged out of the bar. In particular I remember the Police thugs going into the change rooms and dragging out a naked girl. This was shown on National Television.
The program was trying to take the high moral ground and suggest that it was there to help all the exploited girls. I was truly disgusted. This showed no respect for the girls and that girl in particular. Peter Couchman proved himself to be a hypocrite with no morality. He exploited the girls as much if not more that anyone else.
Later reports from many different sources came back about how the girls were taken down to the Police stations and systematically raped. From other stories I have heard about Mr Couchman I believe that none of the girls would have fallen victim to him. He apparently has other interests.

I saw that also. I think I have it on VHS tape. Program called The Philippine Mafia. All about Australian's seeking refuge in the Philippines which at the time did not have an extradition agreement with Australia. The program suggested that all the bars in Ermita were run by wanted Australian criminals. Focused a bit on a bar owner called Michael Jackson who apparently ran the Thriller bar.

ICouchman and a heap of Police were also waiting outside the New Bangkok bar on one of the raids.
This particular one was set up for the cameras...
All the police were milling around outside the bar waiting for the cameraman to get set up.
Then on "Couchmans" call the raid took place.
To quote that prick "ok lets go" boy was he shocked when they went in to find only a couple of guys sitting at the bar having a quiet beer and no action what so ever they shouldn't have broadcast their punch.
I think that's when they then moved onto the Australian Bar...
